what’s happening, currently

Last night I dreamt about hugging cute boys. And playing Beatles Rock Band with them.
Many things are happening, and I am trying to manage them without losing my mind. I have a second appointment with my new therapist lined up. I will soon be calling in-network psychiatrists for my medicines. I’m really looking forward to [...]

MTV Beach House has got nothin’ on me!

This is a guest post from Tam over at Marrying a Med Student as part of the 20something bloggers blog swap. You can also read my guest post on her blog here. I love this post just for the Dairy Queen mention, but it’s also funny, and I was also a guy’s girl as a [...]

have I managed to catch on yet? or, loomings

You be the judge: A November post, from 2005.

It is a good afternoon for the opening of Moby Dick:
Call me Ishmael. Some years ago – never mind how long precisely – having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail [...]

I never revise

But here’s a revision.

head to head with lions.

I don’t want
to be the contortionist
anymore. I want
to stand in the doorway
of your bedroom, my
shoulder against the door jamb, watching
you sleep.

(I [...]

x-communication, week one

Yes, week one. I am attempting to not initiate contact with my X, beginning today. No phone calls, no emails, nothing. If he sends me some sort of link to something, I can respond in kind–but I will try to avoid doing so overly much.
In the words of those poets of my generation, “I need [...]

found poem

created out of song lyrics from the playlist I just burned for him…
You go on ahead, honey
You have a good time there
You make me feel funny
I’m no ordinary lover or friend
You walk out of the room with your hands so deep in your pockets,
I don’t recognize you
It’s death in our love that has brought us [...]

not everybody’s a critic

“At the recent Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, there was a fascinating panel featuring writers whose books were written in what time they could spare from their day jobs. Inevitably, blogging was presented as an attractive alternative — it doesn’t take much time, and it is a method of publicly expressing oneself (like finger-painting, [...]
