this whole “dating” thing? can eat a bag of dicks

I went on a coffee date last Sunday with a really interesting and attractive young man, and when we parted he said something about being busy all this (past) week but we should talk over IM. Since then? Not a word, written or otherwise. I thought we’d gotten along really well, but now I am [...]

walk it out.

I took a long walk this afternoon/early evening. It was brisk out, and I wished I worn a hat. I walked for about an hour and on my way back home I stopped at the corner store and bought some milk and some incense that smelled like my grandmother’s house (I liked the way my [...]

sanguine

Last Sunday afternoon I met the Professor for Korean food in Uptown. We ate spring rolls and bowls filled with rice noodles, peanuts, pork, and bean sprouts.
After we ate, we walked around his neighborhood, looking at the exotic–to me, anyway–items in the near-by Korean grocery stores. There were whole sardines on ice, huge bags of [...]

rainy day list of randomosity

I have been dropping things lately. I wonder if I have some sort of brain/nerve issue.
I have dreamed about cheese two nights in a row. I plan on buying some cheese tomorrow after my paycheck is deposited.
The Professor signed an email “xoxo.” I think that is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen [...]

the new year begins: food porn and zombies

Seth and I had a decadent five course dinner at Bite cafe for New Year’s Eve. The menu was:

endive leaves (?) stuffed with goat cheese, candied walnuts and pumpkin seeds
corn and potato chowder with parmesan crostini
green salad with champagne vinaigrette
skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, Gruyere mashed potatoes, and sauted zucchini
blondie sundae and free coffee.

Then we [...]

how cathy comic of me.

I have plenty to write about–xb drama, the adorable Seth, job funnies, excellent adventures in the city–but all I have on my mind right now is the fact that my pants have not been fitting lately, and I need to get off my lazy ass and do something about it, because I certainly cannot afford [...]

more tales of clumsiness

A few mornings ago I was making coffee, and I was so tired and out of it I poured the coffee beans into the coffee maker where the water goes instead of pouring them into the coffee grinder. Ten minutes ago, I went to take a drink of coffee and essentially poured it down the [...]

bad decision dinosaurs

That’s what we would be, if we interacted at this point. I’m sorry, but if we haven’t run into each other for six months now, I don’t see why it is inevitable that we will do so in the future. The city is vast–it contains multitudes. And there are plenty of other people, places, and [...]

more bitchin’ ’bout the roommate

He was hammering things into the wall until 10:30 last night. Then he cranked the thermostat up to 75. This morning the bathroom was full of water. He still hasn’t thrown away the piece of pizza he left on the table last Thursday.
Yeah, he’s gonna regret that thermostat choice when the gas bill is his [...]

sepulchre

Last night was slow at work, and today is the same thus far. I am hoping the forecast for chilly rain tomorrow will bring some people in. This place is like a fucking tomb when there are no patrons here.
It’s also tomb-like in the way it has buried any creative initiative I once had for [...]
