at the moment my nom de plume is iris b/c of iris murdoch, and her brilliance, but I would like to manage my crazy a bit better than she managed hers.

I’m in my late twenties, I adore my cat, and, like Dorothy Parker, I’m baffled by “[a]ll those writers who write about their childhood! Gentle God, if I wrote about mine you wouldn’t sit in the same room with me.”

Although, after reading The Glass Castle, I just might write about my childhood. After suffering through it, I might as well end up with something to show for it.

These days I earn my keep wrangling books and chatting with children, and this makes me very happy. I’ve also been a teacher, a receptionist, a movie theater concession girl, and a farm hand.

Most importantly, I like kittens.
